Originally chartered in 1994, United Physicians Inc. (UniPhy) is a not-for-profit IPA (independent physicians association) formed through the merger of two local IPAs in January 2001. Those former IPAs included Palmetto Physicians Association and Trident IPA. Decades later, membership, consisting of Primary Care, Multi-Specialty and Hospital-Based physicians, continues to grow and thrive.
UniPhy's goal is to help our members reduce their overhead and improve efficiency. Our member physicians simply want to focus on providing excellent patient care but are increasingly challenged with keeping pace with compliance issues, insurance requirements, administrative tasks, and other mechanics of practice management. UniPhy's role is to help reduce those burdens by providing more favorable contracting with payors; offering continuing education for practice managers, physicians, and mid-levels; coordinating credentialing & recredentialing; providing discount rates on malpractice insurance and other services; and much more.
